Costs Associated with Adoption

• Application Fees - When deciding to work with any given Adoption Agency there is typically a fee that can range from $50 - $200. (or more)

• Agency Fees - Once you have selected the agency you desire to work with and have come to an agreement there will be a fee to work with that specific agency. This fee can vary greatly! We have seen costs range from $200 - $3,000. 

• Home Study Fees - Once an agency has been decided the next step would be to complete a Home Study. This fee can range from $1,000 - $2,000 depending on the agency. A Home Study has to be renewed yearly which comes with added costs. 

• Case Fees - A case is when we are presented with an available situation of a birth parent choosing a plan for their born/unborn child. We will review the criteria and situation and evaluate if it matches our desires and if we match the criteria of the birth parents. Many of these cases, depending on agency, come with a fee. This can also range from $100 - $200.

These are just a few examples of costs associated with adoption. Every agency has their reasons for costs and their breakdown. There are many things we may not see or understand but we choose to trust and respect their decisions. Many agencies see that the birth mothers are taken care of during these times. This includes counseling, help with Dr visits, basic necessities, and more.

Both Hands operates with a "grant" system where we can access the funds raised to pay for the above fees. When we receive a bill or choose to apply for a case, the money raised through Both Hands covers that cost. What a blessing!
